In the auto parts rebuilding industry, it is necessary to blast clean parts (castings) that have been machined, but this will damage the machined surfaces and make it necessary to re-machine those surfaces. But often when these parts are re-machined, it changes pre-designed tolerances, which is unacceptable. Engine blocks and cylinder heads have machined surfaces PLUS threaded holed, and both are damaged by shotblasting with standard SAE grade steel shot. But blasting with NU-SOFT Shot will not damage these surfaces and allow these pieces to be reused without further machining or making a “clean-up cut” on the mating surfaces.
